I'm Joshua de Reeper. I live in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and I love making things work.
Ever since I was in primary school, I have had a knack for problem solving. Maths was my favourite subject, because, funnily enough, there were logical problems to solve. On top of that, I was obsessed with computers, and Dad always had a project at home that he was working on. Granted, I had no idea that he was a Software Engineer until I started studying at university, but there was definitely a subconscious influence there.
I enrolled at Victoria University of Wellington in 2017, and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in 2021. I learned heaps from my time there, a range of different programming languages, including Java, JavaScript, C, C++, Rust, Ruby, C#, F# and Python, group project skills, professional Engineering practices and processes, agile methodologies, and how to start a career in tech.
On top of my studies, I was also playing Water Polo for club and country, selected for squads at 3 FINA Junior World Championships and playing at 2, winning the NZ U21 National Club Championships and being selected as the best goalkeeper of the tournament at 18 years of age, as well as earning 3 podium placements with my club's senior mens team. My first job was water based as well, being an Aqautic Education Instructor for SwimWell, Wellington City Council's Swim School.
All of that has lead me to where I am today, a Salesforce Consultant at Arlanis Reply UK, based in Edinburgh. Having been introduced to Salesforce through my 3rd Year Group Project at University, I applied for a Salesforce Developer Internship at ANZ New Zealand, and never looked back.
